2004
In early November, two buddies are called:
* “Hi, how are you?
* Perfect and you?
* Well, thank you. Say, what do you say that for the new year with our friends we organize a ski-Bible?
* Uh yeah, but what?
* Normally we skied the day and evening Bible reading.
* Ok, here we go! “
The adventure began AdorA like that, one evening a phone call between two friends. A few weeks later, two young seminarians and 10 Christians of the Diocese of Annecy, which for the most part, do not know, are found in the small resort of Montriond for four days in late December. They are staying at the rectory. To thank the parish in his home, the group held a prayer vigil in music. During the day, the pub is made in the station to invite people … with their most beautiful voice, some instruments, three spots, a little sound, voila! Finally, after a “super” party with 50 people is a click, “and if we expand the group and go again for Pentecost in Annecy? “
2005
The crazy gamble is launched! Some other friends bands or known at various pilgrimages are added to the group. 14 musicians and two Sundays come together to repeat the entire repertoire of the concert, unknown to all. On Saturday, May 14, 300 people gather around the band formed for the occasion and the coaching staff. Despite the pop / rock that echoed around the vast Church of Notre-Dame de Liesse in the city center of Annecy and in the minds of these young people where older, there’s something in the heart of people like the musicians. The testimonies encourage us: “keep it up! “
Some people with work or family can continue the adventure and then others come. They reformed somewhat and live together, as a pilgrim, the WYD in Cologne.
On his return we find the name of AdorA. We who had come to worship Him, we start to worship that spread! In Latin, adora means “love”. If we break down the word, ad ora, he becomes overwhelmed this invitation to worship by the voice.
This worship nurtured in the silence of the heart reflects the rhythm of a pop-rock praise, made of occasions or compositions. Yes, the group also saw the birth of talent of composers to some musicians. The group works primarily seeks and gathers around the “super” vigil ordination of Vincent, he runs and was a sort of revelation.
We all had the desire to share our faith and we liked the pop-rock. We came to realize that we could animate the evenings concerts in a spirit of celebration and prayer as this particular October 15. The group is unique in its kind: a cello, two violins or a flute that plays the rhythm of drums, bass and electric guitar: it’s not common. Finally we all agree that we can announce the good news, but not in order to forcibly convert the masses. No, we want to make beautiful music and praising the good Lord and being accessible to all, while remaining simple.
It is with this awareness and this objective that the group continues its path Adore. Again, the group meets at the end of the year for a ski-Bible.
2006
The group that chooses to lead mainly concerts, evenings of praise, prayer and sometimes masses meets regularly to rehearse or more. Indeed, it is necessary to specify the group, before being “music” is a bunch of friends who take time (even many) to find themselves on fine evenings.
Always looking to stay in the goal from the beginning, the group reserves before each rehearsal or performance time of prayer where everyone participates in its own way. The group is composed of 23 members, heterogeneity is present. Other characters are, how to live their faith (there is among other a priest, a non-believer, in search of spirituality), the ages (18-46 years) … but what could be a weakness is ultimately a strength.
This year many concerts, vigils. The group, having to mark a difference between the two types of delivery, offers a time of internalization at the heart of each of them and invited everyone to dare a step of faith.
Participation in national student days in Lyon in September, after spending several days together to prepare this event also marks this year.
A cross-Bible is organized as usual, and unfortunately for the first year, and for personal reasons, some members of the group have said goodbye.
2007
The group tries each year to advance in the simplicity and no one knows what the future holds. Not one in 2004, would have thought to do this and especially not this May 19, 2007. This day is marked in memory of all members for the first time organized its own worship and gathered together 450 people in St. Bernadette Church in Annecy.
This event is another opportunity for the group to re-organize on different points. It now consists of 13 musicians who generally find themselves all but two weeks to rehearse at 4 staffers who deal with light, the dissemination of speech, video,
organization … Without them all, the group would not be much. So on May 19th was also the day of the creation of the association Adore!
It also appears that to date there, a recording of some songs was directed by Tim, our sound engineer …
2008
You can imagine then that this year will also be great for the band!
We know that we have recently been selected to participate in the Easter Festival in Chartres. Rehearsals are linked, more numerous, effective, until last Saturday, March 15, in the presence of an audience of critics in every genre: young people, parents, friends, come to appreciate, criticize, our 45 minutes together . A beautiful moment, and very helpful … and the concert held in Chartres OFF festival, in the cold (but in Haute Savoie, cold, it was customary!), Opportunity to live a great time together, and enjoy the many other bands: impressive!
Among the events that mark again in 2008: a CD, yes … scheduled for July 18.
Why July 18? For the group participated in Annecy in 2008, regional assembly in connection with World Youth Day, and played for the Friday evening which brought together over 800 youth.
We thank God for this path already and we Let’s put that which is yet to come!
